BMC Helix Operations Management Migration Service


This Service migrates Customer’s TrueSight Operations Management (TSOM) or BMC Proactive Performance Management (BPPM) implementation to BMC Helix Operations Management (BHOM). This includes monitoring configurations, event management rules and policies using the migration tool, integrations, dashboards, reports, and users.

BMC will perform the following in a non-production environment with a copy to a production environment, if needed:

As seen in the table below, BMC will perform one or more of the following:

  • The Items and Quantity(ies) (QTY) listed below will be migrated for the Customer as standard practice within this service.
  • If the Customer would like BMC to perform incremental migration activities that fall outside of the Quantities listed below, Additional Quantities can be acquired to match the Customers current TSOM environment being migrated.
  • Alternatively, the Customer can have BMC perform the migration items within the limits listed below and complete the rest independently.

Analyze and Design

  • Conduct a workshop to analyze the existing TSOM or BPPM implementation
  • Prepare Migration Design Document with a migration plan and an assessment of BMC PATROL agents and Knowledge Modules (KMs)* that need to be upgraded

Prepare for Migration

  • Install and configure event management cells
  • Assist Customer with installation and configuration of forward proxy servers if required for PATROL metrics
  • Migrate groups, users, and permissions from Remedy Single Sign On (SSO) to BMC Helix SSO
  • Provide scripts and procedures for Customer to migrate BMC PATROL agents into BHOM (Customer Responsibility)


  • Migrate TSOM or BPPM Central Monitoring Administration (CMA) policies using migration tools
  • Replace event management rules and policies with BHOM policies
  • Create event and data classes in BHOM
  • Migrate data tables to dynamic enrichment policies
  • Assist Customer with migrating event sources
  • Migrate event views and dashboards to Helix Dashboards
  • Migrate reports from TrueSight reporting to Helix Dashboards. The report includes up to 10 metrics or 10 event definitions and up to two data sources
  • Integrate to BMC Helix ITSM or ServiceNow® ITSM to create incident tickets using OOTB integrations
  • Service Model migrations are currently not in scope within this service. 

Validate and Deliver

  • Prepare Construction Document
  • Prepare Test Strategy and System Test Plan
  • Assist Customer with functional testing
  • Provide up to three days of assistance with deployment to production

Customer will be responsible for:

  • Providing access to:
    • Monitoring and event management administrators
    • Subject matter experts
    • Available documentation on the current monitoring environment
  • Providing access and privileges to:
    • Servers where BMC PATROL agents will be installed
    • Servers, applications, and systems to be monitored
    • Systems to be integrated
    • BMC Helix environment
  • Conducting functional testing
  • Upgrading BMC PATROL agents and KMs
  • Installing any new BMC PATROL Agents
  • Migrating any custom KMs
  • Installing and configuring forward proxy servers if required for PATROL metrics
  • Deploying configurations to additional environments

Project Milestones: The following Milestones are established between the Customer and BMC. Once BMC has reached a milestone, the BMC project manager will issue a milestone completion letter to the Customer.

  • Milestone 1: Upon delivery of the Project Schedule
  • Milestone 2: Upon delivery and approval of the Migration Design Document
  • Milestone 3: Upon delivery and approval of the Construction Document
  • Milestone 4: Upon completion of the Project Closeout meeting and the delivery of the project completion letter

Deliverables: Using BMC’s standard methodology and templates, the following Deliverables are in scope for this project and will be delivered:

  • Project Schedule
  • Project Status Report
  • Migration Design Document
  • Construction Document
  • Test Strategy and System Test Plan

Completion Criteria: BMC will have completed the Service when the in-scope Service have been completed and the Deliverables have been reviewed in accordance with the Terms of Use and delivered to the customer Project Manager.



  • For non-SaaS migrations, the BMC Helix platform must already be implemented
  • Firewall ports must be open between monitoring environment and BHOM
  • Some integrations may require additional licensing
  • Minimum BMC PATROL agent version is 21.02 or higher
